Model United Nations Conference in Tangier
Message from Hiam El Hilali:
Dear ASI community,
Greetings! I am pleased to share with you the outstanding achievements of our students in the Model UN conference held at ENCGT College in Tangier. This year 23 ASI high school students took part in the conference being the highest number of participants ASI has ever had.
The Model UN is an activity that provides learners the opportunity to engage with current world issues, learn debate and argumentation skills, improve public-speaking and communication, and become more confident and knowledgeable global citizens. Our participants had an engaging and enriching experience representing several nations: Republic of Korea, Canada, Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America, Italian Republic, State of Palestine, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Kingdom of Sweden, Australia, Argentine Republic, where they had to defend the interest of those countries in multiple committees: Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), World Health Organization (WHO), and International Criminal Court (ICC).
Three students won awards:
Zakaria Eddouks (11th grade) won best opening speech in the World Health Organization.
Zineb Chaatit (10th grade) won best position paper in ICC.
Peter Manou (10th grade) won best delegate in the World Health Organization.
I would also like to thank the amazing chaperons who supervised the three-day trip: Omar Boutaleb and Nael Khader.
